Recent research from Dr Scott Rosa uses upright MRIs to show how a misalignment in the upper cervical spine changes the flow of cerebral spinal fluid (CSF) to and from the brain. As discussed earlier, CSF flow acts as a transport mechanism to the central nervous system; it brings nutrients to the brain and takes toxins from the brain.
When the first few bones of the upper part of your spine are misaligned, it causes a back up of CSF and blood, which causes an increase in intracranial pressure. Studies show that when a misalignment of the upper part of the neck is corrected the pressure decreases and the CSF flow becomes normal.
Poor drainage of CSF and blood due to improper positioning of bones in the upper part of the neck is under review as the cause of many neurodegenerative conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
